Patient Care Technician

Structure and Schedule:

Training is a combination of in-person instruction and a paid externship later in the program.

Pay Rate During Training: $17.50/Hour

Completion

Program completers earn:

 

  • 6 college credits

 

  • Certificate of completion showing achievement of the required knowledge and skills to be a Patient Care Technician

Credential Eligibility

Program completers are eligible for National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)’s National Certified Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) exam to earn a Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) certification.

DC Licensure Eligibility:

Credentialed program completers are eligible to receive a Patient Care Technician license through the DC Board of Nursing.

Certified Nursing Aide (CNA)

Structure and Schedule:

Training will be based on in-person instruction.

 

  • Instruction: Lecture class will take place for 3 hours on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. Lab/Clinical will occur every Saturday for 8 hours.

 

  • Paid externships: No paid internships or externships are offered.

Program Length

This program is one semester in length (16 weeks).

 

Pay Rate During Training: $17.50/Hour

Completion

Program completers earn:

 

  • 6 college credits

 

  • Certificate of completion showing achievement of the required knowledge and skills to be a Certified Nursing Aide.

Credential Eligibility

Program completers will be eligible for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN)’s National Nurse Aide Assessment  Program (NNAAP) exam to earn a  Certified Nursing Aide certification.

DC Registration Eligibility

Credentialed program completers are eligible to receive a Certified Nursing Aide license through the DC Board of Nursing.

Nurse

Structure and Schedule:

Participants enroll at TWU as a part-time student in the Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) program,

 

  • Coursework: Varies, Required courses are available during the day and evening.

 

  • Paid internship: clinical hours obtained with course schedule

Program Length

The complete BSN program requires 100 credits. Through this partnership participants may take up to 10 credits per semester.

 

Pay Rate During Training: $17.50/Hour

Completion

Program completers receive a degree showing achievement of the required knowledge and skills to be a Registered Nurse (RN).

Credential Eligibility

Eligibility: Program completers earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing (BSN)

DC Registration Eligibility

Program completers are eligible to receive a Registered Nursie license through the DC Board of Nursing.

Community Health Worker

Structure and Schedule:

Participants enroll at TWU as a student in the Community Health Worker Certificate program,

 

  • Instruction: Class duration will be for 3 hours once a week, occurring on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays for 2 semesters.

 

  • Paid internship: Students are paid $17.50 per hour..

Program Length

This is a 2-semester program (16-weeks each). Community Health Worker (CHW) program requires 18 credits. Through this partnership participants will take 18 credits over 1 year.

 

Pay Rate During Training: $17.50/Hour

Completion

Program completers will serve as a health advocate and liaison in the community, while receiving a certificate showing achievement of the required knowledge and skills to be a community health worker.

Credential Eligibility

Program completers earn a Community Health Worker certificate.
