Patient Care Technician

Structure and Schedule:

Participants are hired as GW Health employees and receive on-the-job training during their regular work schedule.

 

  • Up to 40 hours per week; days and times may vary depending on the needs of the department

 

  • Online certification training modules via MedCerts

 

  • All hours are paid

Program Length

Varies, up to 6 months. (An individualized training plan is developed based on an assessment of each participant’s experience/skills.)

 

Pay Rate During Training: $17.50 – $21.42/hour

Completion

Program completers will receive a certificate showing achievement of the required knowledge and skills to be a Patient Care Technician.

Credential Eligibility

Program completers will be eligible for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) National Certified Patient Care Technician exam to earn a Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) certification.

DC Licensure Eligibility:

Program completers are eligible to receive a Patient Care Technician license through the DC Board of Nursing.

Pharmacy Technician

Structure and Schedule:

Participants are hired as GW Health employees and receive on-the-job training during their regular work schedule.

 

  • Up to 40 hours per week; days and times may vary depending on the needs of the department

 

  • Online certification training modules via MedCerts

 

  • All hours are paid

Program completers will be eligible for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam to earn a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.

DC Licensure Eligibility:

Program completers are eligible to receive a Pharmacy Technician license through the DC Board of Pharmacy.

Sterile Processing Technician

Structure and Schedule:

Participants are hired as GW Health employees and receive on-the-job training during their regular work schedule.

 

  • Up to 40 hours per week; days and times may vary depending on the needs of the department

 

  • Online certification training modules via MedCerts

 

  • All hours are paid

Program Length

Varies, up to 6 months. (An individualized training plan is developed based on an assessment of each participant’s experience/skills.)

 

Pay Rate During Training: $18.51 – $23.14/hour

Completion

Program completers will receive a certificate showing achievement of the required knowledge and skills to be a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).

Credential Eligibility

Program completers are eligible for the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) exam to earn a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification.

DC Licensure Eligibility:

Program completers will be eligible for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) National Certified Patient Care Technician exam to earn a Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) certification.
